Just a little heads-up: a few of the links you’ll see are referral (affiliate) links. That means if you click through and treat yourself to something, I might get a tiny thank-you in return, but don’t worry, it won’t cost you a penny more. On our recent family trip to Portugal, we wrapped things up with three nights in Lisbon, a perfect chance for a little Lisbon city break and time to explore properly. If you missed it, you can also read about our earlier adventures in Santa Cruz and Craveiral Farmhouse.

Where to Stay in Lisbon on a Family Trip
We booked Look Living on Booking.com. It only opened three years ago, so everything still feels fresh and in great condition. Best of all, it’s on relatively flat ground down by the river, very close to the train station, thus an ideal base if you’re looking for where to stay in Lisbon without hauling bags up steep hills. One night after dinner we helped a young couple carry their cases up a gazillion steps, they looked shattered after a travel day and in need of a good deed.

We arrived to Lisbon by car. My husband dropped the kids and me, and all the cases, off at the side of the road. Conveniently this was also right outside COMOBÅ coffee, so while he parked nearby we got to refuel. After a quick rest with matcha in hand, we walked just across the road to the hotel.
First Impressions of Our Lisbon Boutique Hotel
Honestly, I think every boutique hotel in Lisbon should check you in with a complimentary glass of wine. After a two-hour drive, it was exactly what we needed. The team were super friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home.

Our apartment was on the 4th floor. A lift was available, but we always chose the beautiful wooden staircase, worn smooth by over 140 years of footsteps, a little slice of Lisbon history in itself.
Our Family-Friendly Apartment in Lisbon
Opening the door to our apartment was a delight: cool air-conditioning, and what might just be the world’s most comfortable sofa (which cleverly converted into an extra bed). The light, airy space felt both spacious and cosy.

Soft bed linens, fluffy towels, thoughtful touches, the whole stay felt like a big warm hug. It’s no surprise that the team told me many guests are returning again and again. For a family-friendly Lisbon accommodation option, this was just perfect.
Plus an actual key, with a beautiful keyring, until it was in my hand I had forgotten how nice it was to have an actual key for your room.

Breakfast at the Hotel Restaurant
Breakfast was downstairs at street level in their restaurant. Service wasn’t the quickest, worth factoring in if you have early sightseeing plans, but the food was plentiful and more than enough to fuel a day of exploring Lisbon on foot.
Tip: If you can, book the restaurant opposite the hotel for dinner, RUMI Lisboa, the menu looked divine and would be a great way to sample more Lisbon food and wine.
Things to Do on a Weekend in Lisbon
One of the highlights: the team arranged a last-minute Lisbon sunset boat tour for us. Cruising along the Tagus as the city turned golden and the lights began to sparkle was simply magical, an experience I’d recommend to anyone planning a weekend in Lisbon.

Lisbon Travel Tips & Final Thoughts
Look Living was the perfect base for our Lisbon city break, warm, welcoming, and family-friendly. Between the central location, the cosy apartment, and the thoughtful staff, it’s a boutique hotel in Lisbon we’d happily return to.
