Travel // Perth, WA [Part 3 – 7 Awesome Places to Eat at in Margaret River] {2019}

After our recent trip to Western Australia I was blown away by the quality of produce and the standard of food being served, even at a local cafe. But at the risk of making this blog post ten pages long I’ve tried to bundle up the 7 best eateries in Margaret River; so if you’re after some recommendations for eating out in Perth here are my favourites.

White Elephant Cafe, Gnarabup Beach – a good one to stop at for lunch before the outdoor cinema or on the way back from seeing the sting rays in Hamelin Bay. This cafe is on a stunning beach and a good spot to sit and watch the crazy kite surfers out at sea.

Snatch Dogs,  Dunsborough – if you’re after an easy meal with no fuss after a day at the beach this place is awesome. Service with a smile and great vegan and gluten free options too. Kids were happy on the colouring table and we ate in peace.

The Goose, Busselton – if you’re headed into Busselton for the train ride down the jetty this is a good spot to park up after and enjoy a crisp cold glass of white wine and eat some good quality food. The view over the pier and down the beach makes sitting outside worthwhile.

Yallingup General Store, Yallingup – a good lesson of don’t judge a book by it’s cover. We drove past and almost drove out. But something made me stop, it was after all recommended. Their cafe was so good and tasty we came back many many times. It’s a convenient spot on the way to and back from lots of locations. Also has a post office if you need to send any postcards. I tried to work my way through all their kombucha flavours but there were too many!

Tip: stock up on the fresh fruit in paper bags and the local zinc sunscreen.

Clancy’s Live Music Fish Bar, Dunsborough – another one we didn’t fancy from the outside. But it opens up to a lovely lake at the back and gardens for the kids to play in and the food was good with chilled out vibes. If you can hit it when there’s live music in town you’ll be in for a treat.

Wise Wines, Dunsborough – these guys have a very busy cellar door and with good reason. Their restaurant is a little more fancy than some but the service still comes with a big friendly smile and worth popping by even for dessert and a glass of wine. Great views over the ocean.

Eagle Bay Brewery, Dunsborough – tucked away on a beautiful block over looking the rolling hills, this winery provides friendly service with amazing food and great wines. It ticked all of our boxes. There is a fab kids play area out on the lawn to entice them off their tablets. It’s also a short drive from some stunning beaches like Bunker Bay, Eagle Bay and Meelup Beach.
